    Going travelling again…

After three years in Tasmania I’m now preparing to go travelling again. Over the last few weeks I have sold my furniture in Hobart, prepared my travel gear and organised storage for the rest of my belongings. At the moment I’m just finishing a few bits of work while waiting for my apartment lease to run out and then I’ll head off to Melbourne.

One of the reasons I love to spend a sunny afternoon watching the Eastern Rosellas in Queen’s Domain, is, they’re capable of standing on one leg while using the other to lift up food — pretty fascinating to watch.

Sunny Thursday afternoon in Hobart. Salamanca, Battery Point, Long Beach.

I met up with Luke from the Bushwalk Tasmania forum and we drove up Mt Wellington to Big Bend. From there we walked the Big Bend trail, climbed up Tom Thumb, continued on the East West Trail, and returned to the car park via Collins Bonnet Track over Mt Connection.

Collins Bonnet Track was particularly beautiful. A very exposed climb up to Mt Connection, then a long descent via alpine swamps.

A great 5h Sunday afternoon walk.

A 7h Sunday afternoon walk in Wellington Park up to Lost World.

From the city to Cascade Gardens, Old Farm Fire Trail to Junction Hut, Hunters Track, Lost World, Pinnacle Road to the Chalet, Hunters Track back to Junction Hut, Old Farm Fire Trail back to Cascade Gardens and the city.

I wished I would have the chance to go sailing myself. Sometimes it seems like everyone in Tasmania owns a boat, and with all the great beaches and bays, and coastal areas fantastic for cruising, what could be better than going sailing?

The joy and pain of a tax declaration

Honestly, I was looking forward to do my tax declaration this year. Mostly because I can look forward to a nice tax return, but also because tax declarations are not very difficult in Australia - at least compared to Germany.

Amanda Palmer live in Hobart last night

Staying in bed until 11am (lazy). Spending like 2 hours in the bathroom (really lazy). Looking out of the window and spontaneously deciding to cancel all plans for activities outside of my flat due to signs of rain (notoriously lazy).
