Winter ride to Eildon

600km day ride

It was a beautiful Sunday with pleasant weather and mild temperatures, so I decided to join another DOCV ride to Eildon. I’m usually not too keen to join day rides since it takes me nearly two hours to get to the starting points East or North of Melbourne. Since I got the Hyperstrada though it’s more comfortable for me to ride long distance and I can easily do 600km in one day without getting too tired.

I was surprised it took me only about an hour and a half to get to the meeting point in Diamond Creek, early Sunday morning the roads are quite empty around Melbourne. After a cup of tea we headed off towards Yea. The route was pretty much the same as earlier this year, but the roads are wonderful to ride on.

Lunch was at the Golden Trout pub where we met some of our riders again who got lost during the morning when they took the wrong turn. We finished the ride at the bakery in Healesville, where I joined a few riders back to Diamond Creek so I basically took the same route home again.
