Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos

I have a lot of cockatoos around my house all year round. The most common ones are Galahs which feed on my front lawn nearly every day. Sulphur-crested Cockatoos can also be seen or heard quite often. In spring and early summer there are large flocks of Little Corellas in the area, and in late summer and autumn it seems that Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos are passing throug.

The other day I woke up from the sounds of cockatoos outside. When you’re familiar with cockatoos you can tell by their calls which species it is. I knew it was the yellow-tailed black ones, so I looked outside and saw them sitting in trees outside my house. Having wanted better photos of them for some time I grabbed my camera and went outside. It was about twenty of them and luckily these beautiful birds stayed around for a few minutes.
